What is Coffin Bread?

Coffin Bread (棺材板) is one of Taiwan’s popular snacks, found in Taipei, Taichung, Tainan, Kaohsiung and all over Taiwan. A thick slice of fried toast, hollowed out and filled with a creamy chowder of chicken, seafood and vegetables, then covered with a bread lid. The name comes from its coffin-like shape. A Tainan specialty.
