What is Stinky Tofu?

Stinky Tofu (臭豆腐) is one of Taiwan’s popular snacks, found in Taipei, Taichung, Tainan, Kaohsiung and all over Taiwan. Fermented tofu with a strong smell — most people say it tastes much milder than it smells. The most common style is deep-fried until crispy outside and soft inside, served with sweet-sour pickled cabbage and chili sauce. Steamed and spicy hot-pot versions are popular too.
