What is Tube Rice Cake?
Tube Rice Cake (筒仔米糕) is one of Taiwan’s popular rice and braised dishes, found in Taipei, Taichung, Tainan, Kaohsiung and all over Taiwan. Glutinous rice steamed in a small tube with braised pork, shiitake mushroom and sometimes egg, then turned out onto a plate and topped with sweet-savory sauce and cilantro. Chewy and rich.
